Safety

  • When applying joint locks do unto your partner as you would have them do unto you. It is bad form to apply a lock sadistically, and then complain if they hurt you when it is their turn.

  • Apply joint locks gently and slowly, not suddenly.

  • No jewellery may be worn. This is mainly for safety's sake, but also there is a Japanese aesthetic that favours simplicity.

  • Ensure your fingernails are short, as long nails can cause nasty scratches that often get infected.

  • Losing your temper is unforgivable, and childish.
