Etiquette

  • Never wear shoes on the training area.

  • Always bow as you enter and leave the training room. You are bowing to the room to show your respect for your training.

  • Bow to your training partner when you have been partnered off, bow again when you have finished practising with them.

  • When you are bowing to a training partner, keep your eyes on them, when bowing at the start or finish of a class lower your eyes to the floor.

  • When responding to the instructor say 'Hai' (which means something like Yes, sir!).

  • If this were a formal Japanese style club you would be expected to not ask any questions, however we are more liberal, and questions are fine, so long as they don't hold up training too much.
